Evidence-based dentistry (EBD) is an approach to oral health care that requires the judicious integration of systematic assessments of clinically relevant scientific evidence, relating to the patient's oral and medical condition and history, with the dentist's clinical expertise and the patient's treatment needs and preferences.

Dr. Lal strongly believes in practicing evidence based dentistry. He considers himself fortunate to also have conducted research and published his work in several prestigious peer-reviewed journals; such as Journal of Prosthodontics, Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and others.

Sometimes, it can take years to conduct and subsequently publish scientific data. Despite these challenges, Dr. Lal was committed to publish his findings with the hope that it would benefit fellow dentists and patients. In this spirit, he founded Digital Dentistry Forum to provide training and education material of the highest standards to professionals in the field.

Dr. Lal earned a Certificate in Prosthodontics as well as a Masters of Science degree from Columbia University, College of Dental Medicine in 2002. He published his Masters research in a two part publication in the Journal of Prosthodontics.
